Daniel Zumpano is a lawyer, businessman, and surfer.  He has mastered dangerous waves throughout the world, including Indonesia, Central America, and, of course, the United States.  It is no surprise that he has built a loyal client following by bringing the same focus and fearless determination necessary to survive in the surf to taming troubled legal waters for our clients.  A founding member of the firm, he is now a partner in our Litigation Department and Entertainment Law Group and manages several of the firm’s family law cases.

As a lawyer, Daniel is a natural litigator. He represents multinational and domestic businesses in resolving commercial disputes, with special emphasis on business torts, contract disputes, and dissolutions.  Daniel has successfully prosecuted and defended matters in Federal, State, and administrative courts – from strategic pretrial and discovery practice, to evidentiary hearings, to appeals.  In the area of business partnership disputes and dissolutions, Daniel has developed a well-deserved reputation as an effective advocate and counselor, advising clients on the most effective means to preserve their controlling interests while protecting their businesses from being torn apart by internal conflict.

Fluent in Spanish, he also actively represents our clients on international litigation matters and has handled multijurisdictional disputes for our clients with interests in Latin America, including disputes involving Mexican, Costa Rican, and Bolivian entities and legal issues.

More than a litigator, Daniel applies the tactical and strategic skills he forged in his trial practice to bear in advising our entertainment and media clients.  He represents several celebrities and professional athletes, advising them on a variety of contractual and investment matters.

As a businessman, Daniel has pursued various entrepreneurial endeavors, including owning retail boutiques focusing on high-end infant clothing and furnishings.  It is this hands-on business experience that is at the heart of his talent for focusing on practical solutions to our business client’s challenges.

A Harvard University graduate, Daniel received his Juris Doctor from the University of Miami in 2004.  He is a member of the Cuban American Bar Association and American Bar Association. He is also committed to public service and has donated numerous hours of service to the Miami Rescue Mission.

• Represented former professional basketball player, and affiliated business organizations on contractual and business disputes.
• Key player in the procurement of a confidential settlement for two Spanish celebrities through his entertainment law experience.
• Defended successfully against the dismissal on forum non conveniens grounds of lawsuits brought by 96 plaintiffs in the United States for an airplane crash occurring in South America.
• Co-counsel’s the prosecution of our client’s contractual claims in front of a cross-border arbitration panel.
• Proseuted appellate matters on behalf of various clients obtaining several favorable appellate rulings in the Third District Court of Appeals as well as in the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals.
